About the event

Join us for a soothing evening exploring menstrual cycle and womb care. An opportunity to learn about the importance our cycles, how to care for our wombs and move through gentle practices that can support and heal this space.

We can hold a lot of our emotions, memories and trauma within our wombs. This unfortunately has manifest as a whole host of painful conditions and symptoms including; painful periods, endometriosis, PMDD, fibroids, PCOS, infertility, disconnect from sexuality and sensuality, issues with identity, lack of creativity, the list unfortunately goes on! Many black women are living life with these painful conditions, and yet statistics show that we are not being heard or supported in the way that we deserve by health care providers. It's time for us to reclaim our wombs and cycles, come together in circle, to learn about our menstrual and womb health, and remember and reignite the practices of our ancestors in order to tend to, heal and nourish this space. Taking the time to focus on and tend to this space can bring a lot of ease with these symptoms and we can even start to befriend our cycle rather than see at as a burden (and I'm saying this as someone with endometriosis!).

Within this workshop, we will be exploring:

  • Understanding the menstrual cycle as one of the vital signs and why this is important for our overall physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing
  • A deep dive into the "inner seasons" and how to work with these to understand your cycle on a deeper level
  • Exploring ancestral womb care practices and traditions that supported the menstrual cycle
  • Guided womb yoga (very gentle movement, breathwork and meditation focused on the womb area) to build connection and rest
  • A guided gentle self abdominal massage session to support pain and promote relaxation
  • Journal prompts and a sharing circle to provide space for a safe and open discussion about how our cycles show up for us
  • Herbal teas and nourishing snacks

This workshop is for black and mixed heritage women and womb-keepers.
