My Background
I'm Tamsin, a Manchester city girl turned wild woman, now living nomadically in my van on the wild west coast of Cornwall. Before this my life was very different. I grew up on a council estate in the city experiencing first hand the Truth and depths of living within the shadows of a patriarchal society. I believe this was the start of my initiation into this work.
Wanting to create a change, I left Manchester, and went and got myself Law degree with the aim of working in social justice and human rights. This study of the legal system, both within the UK and internationally informs a lot of reasoning behind my work; in that I do not believe we can change the system "from the inside". I know from this study that it is built on colonialism, imperialism and white supremacy and for us to truly be free, the system needs to fall. My work aims to be a part of the alternative, the other way, that I believe will fuel this fall. This belief made me let go of the idea of being a human rights lawyer and lead me to working within the violence against women and girls sector in a more "social work and mental health support" capacity. I worked in domestic violence services, women's hostels, anti-trafficking organisations, LGBT centres, and services for women who are sex working. Again, deepening my understanding of how deep the wounds of patriarchy truly go. I truly know in my bones how vital and serious this work is.
After working within the system for many years I found myself at a loss, my heart yearned for more than what I was able to offer. Firefighting every day, up against the beast that is capitalism, sticking plasters over deep wounds. I experienced first-hand how we cannot heal from these deep-rooted, genuine, patriarchal pains within a patriarchal cage. By patriarchal cage, I’m referring to services that are stretched above capacity, completing tick-box referrals, and unable to provide the much-needed support that women & LGBTQ+ people deserve. This system is not only failing those in need of support but also draining the life out of and crushing the spirits of the (incredible) overworked support workers. We are not currently tending to the roots of the issue, which is harming us all. This work has given me a deep understanding of trauma and honestly shaped my life in many ways. Tending to the deep wounds that have been caused by years of colonial conditioning is my calling. However, I know now that this way of "fighting the patriarchy" is not actually getting to the root of the issue. It's not doing what it says on the tin. We deserve more. Again, my work aims to provide the alternative.
So I followed what can only be described as "a calling", completing further training in body-based healing modalities in order to provide the work that I do now. I’ve studied (& continue to) somatics & the nervous system, the womb & menstrual cycle and the healing capacity of coming back to Mother Nature. This study has been a truly embodied one, meaning I have experienced all that I now offer; I know what this journey takes deep in my bones. I am here now to provide care and support to women and people affected by the patriarchy in a more:
Heart & womb centred
Body-focused
Rooted
Slow & soulful
Earthly
Ancestral way
Since offering this work, I have also uncovered deeper Truths. The truth that many sacred spaces aimed at women, are also failing to tend to the patriarchal wounds. A lack of trauma-skilled support, safeguarding awareness, capability to hold those dealing with mental health, or ability to respond to a disclosure of assault or abuse has been highlighted to be heavily. This means my work also aims to connect the dots between these two worlds of women's safety and women's sacred spaces. The medicine for each lies in the other, and I aim to bridge the gap.
I do this through my 1-1 offerings, workshops and training providing support not only to those affected by the patriarchy but also to those who are also actively trying to dismantle it. I'm so happy you are here joining me on this journey.
My prayer with this work
My Core Values
What informs my work?
01
Revolutionary Rest
Here we go at the pace of the cycle, taking this work one step at a time and honouring the power of stillness. I see rest as revolutionary and essential when trying to dismantle a system that wants us to abandon our natural rhythms. This radical work times time and it takes rest.
02
Brave Space
Although we take it slow, here we still acknowledge that this is still big, deep processing work and a lot can come up. Meaning that this is a space of spiritual gaslighting "love and light". It is a space where we lean into discomfort and confronting emotions and sensations. We face our fears and tend to our shadows.
03
Genuine Care
Whilst we go on this brave journey, here value the need for safeguarding and integrity to do this deep work. We acknowledge and hold those that have been forced into the shadows, offering trauma-skilled and mental health aware spaces for all to be seen, witnessed and validated.
04
Bridging the Gap
Alongside this, we also connect the dots between practical safety and the sacred. Acknowledging the need for a wholistic, non-patriarchal approach to our healing that values the soul and spirit within all living beings. We honour The Mother, the cycle, the elements and the ancestors as we go on this sacred journey.
05
It takes a Village
I know that I cannot ever do this alone, nor do I wish to. I acknowledge my humaness and where I lack knowledge. I will signpost to other spaces, practitioners and resources that will support you on your journey, whilst honouring the teachers, the plant kin and the land that have gifted me the wisdom I share.
